When it comes to preparing for severe weather and hurricane season, we follow a 10-point storm protection plan developed by Florida's investor-owned electric utilities in conjunction with the Florida Public Service Commission. Our comprehensive, year-round plan not only includes companywide response drills and storm preparation and restoration exercises, but it also strengthens and hardens our system against extreme weather. And if we need extra help restoring power, Tampa Electric's membership in the Southeastern Electric Exchange provides support from other utilities across the country. In turn, we send crews to help restore power for other communities in need.

We're ready to mobilize

A critical part of our restoration plan is our 35-foot mobile command center for Tampa Electric and Peoples Gas. It's ready to roll in any type of emergency, whether right here in Florida due to a hurricane or elsewhere as part of our participation in the Southeastern Electric Exchange's mutual assistance pact among utilities. Watch the video below to get a close-up look at what our mobile command center brings to the community.
