COI Energy is a woman-owned minority business focused on energy efficiency. COI Energy pledged $50,000 to Share to help customers in need.

We’re transmitting feel-good energy!

At Tampa Electric, we’re proud to operate a very different kind of power grid. It’s one that transmits nothing but feel-good energy to our neighbors in need, by helping them pay their power bill.

Our “charitable power grid” is powered by people like you, through our Share program. We match your donations dollar-for-dollar, up to $500,000.

In 2023, our Share program donated more than $1.3 million to help more than 3,606 neighbors in need pay their utility bills.

The program is administered by the Salvation Army and the Catholic Charities Diocese of St. Petersburg.

How does our “charitable power grid” work?

Transformers: We call our donors to Share transformers, because they directly transform the lives of neighbors on the grid. Transformers donate any amount on a one-time basis or each month, conveniently added to their power bill.
Amplifiers: Tampa Electric amps up the energy with its own donations and by matching your donations dollar for dollar.
Happy Meter: Hopeful and energized customers get the help they need!

ShareHolidayButton.jpgHow you can help.

It's easy - and so appreciated by those who are struggling. You can donate via an automatic monthly contribution or via a one-time contribution. Every dollar you donate goes directly to helping a neighbor in need. No portion of your contribution is used for fundraising or administrative costs.

Monthly Contribution

If you're able to give, please consider a voluntary, tax-deductible contribution with your monthly payment. Simply submit your request online to contribute a monthly Share donation that will be included on your residential or business bill.

Once we receive and process your request, it may be one or two billing cycles before your Share deduction appears on your monthly billing statement. It will appear as a separate line item indicating the amount of your monthly pledge. We will provide you with a record of your previous year's contributions on your January billing statement.

One-Time Contribution

You may make a one-time contribution using one of the following ways:

  1. Contribute to Share online.
  2. Complete this form and mail in your contribution as a check or money order.

If you need help:

If you or someone you care for needs help to make a utility bill payment, we encourage you to call 211. We have partnered with 211 to connect you with trained and supportive professionals from the Salvation Army and other local agencies who can help provide utility bill assistance, as funds remain available, and other human services assistance. 211 will help you determine which utility bill assistance program you best qualify for and will help connect you to assistance.

Please take a moment to review the requirements listed below prior to calling 211. You will be asked to provide the following when applying for help from Share or another assistance program:

  • Current Tampa Electric or Peoples Gas utility account number.
  • Official identification with the same address as your utility account.
  • Possess a delinquent Tampa Electric or Peoples Gas final notice of payment due.
  • Show proof of a personal or family crisis.
