This year, nearly 100 Tampa Electric team members participated in the 2024 Great American Teach-In (GATI), bringing energy, enthusiasm and expertise to over 60 schools across the Tampa Bay area. From engaging bucket truck demos to hands-on science experiments, we lit up classrooms with exciting lessons about electricity, sustainability and safety.
Thanks to everyone’s creativity, presentations varied across schools. Some team members delved into how electricity is generated and distributed, while others showed off the tools our crews use to restore power. Additionally, our diverse team shared not only their expertise in energy but also their personal passions. For example, Chris Bouchard, Commercial Energy Analyst, captivated students with his presentation on beekeeping, a passion that stems from his love of gardening.
Through it all, safety remained at the forefront, with over 75 lineworkers demonstrating the intricate operations of bucket trucks while emphasizing our commitment to safety-first practices.
We invite you to view all the fun GATI moments on Tampa Electric’s Facebook page. Feel free to engage and comment on your favorite snapshots!
