A group of Tampa Electric team members volunteered to paint a mural for Tampa General Hospital's new TampaWell Food Pharmacy.

Earlier this month, Tampa Electric team members picked up paintbrushes to help brighten the community and support health equity in East Tampa.

These TECO volunteers were among hundreds of others who came together to participate in a giant paint-by-numbers mural for the new TampaWell Food Pharmacy at TGH Family Care Center Healthpark.

At Tampa General Hospital’s new TampaWell Food Pharmacy, patients and neighbors will be able to come together for community gardening, yoga and more.

“Tampa Electric is thrilled to partner with TampaWell, activated by Tampa General Hospital,” said Community Investment Manager Julie Ward. “TampaWell is a revolutionary health and wellness initiative.”

“This was my first time working on a big mural like this,” said Senior Graphic Designer Janet Williams. “It’s a very cool process.”

The pharmacy is part of a multi-year effort that TGH and the City of Tampa launched in 2022. The TampaWell endeavor focuses not only on preventative health to reduce chronic disease and repeated hospitalizations; it also supports the city's most at-risk residents by addressing underlying social factors that impact health.

The food pharmacy is located at TampaWell’s community garden in one of the most food insecure neighborhoods in Tampa. The garden will provide residents with access to nutritious fruits and vegetables, healthy nutrition education along with support for obese and chronically ill adults and children.

TECO is proud of our Tampa General Hospital partnership to raise awareness about community health offerings.
