Lithium-ion batteries have been a game-changer for advanced innovation and technology in the past several decades. But we should always be aware that proper care should be taken with their use. For commercial and industrial environments, both proper storage and risk management are critical in avoiding lithium-ion battery malfunctions.
Please be sure to:
- Store batteries at room temperature
- Use a charger designed for the battery
- Do not leave a battery unattended when charging
- Store batteries separate from other hazardous materials, such as explosives, flammable or combustible materials
- Avoid overcharging or discharging
- Watch for signs of failure such as discoloration, swelling or inability to charge
Lithium-ion batteries are safe if certain precautions in design and use are followed.
