Our Florida Conservation & Technology Center in Apollo Beach is a mix of recreation and revolutionary research
Across the bay from our Big Bend power station in Apollo Beach is our Florida Conservation & Technology Center (FCTC). There we provide our environmental partners – the Florida Aquarium, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the University of Florida – with the land, amenities and infrastructure to support their research and outreach.
FCTC is a fascinating place where sea turtles are rehabilitated, coral is spawned, fish are hatched and kids are able to kayak, fish, learn archery and more.
The cornerstone of FCTC is our ever-popular Manatee Viewing Center, a designated manatee sanctuary and a unique venue to get a good look at Florida’s gentle giants. A short walk along well-maintained trails will lead you to our new Clean Energy Center. It’s an open-air pavilion with interactive games and a working laboratory for our solar research projects.
